Thinking about screen light / brightness in ubuntu, until now I still often read it thread in some forums and that come along with a variety answers. Okkay, now we will discuss in tricktux, discussing the same problem but with a different solution :O Ouupps, sorry maybe is not the best solution but an alternative way ;). I write it just only for somebody frustrated in following many tutorials but none of them were successful. Don't give up, now you found a nice trick to break your probs. And so... what is that?
I mean Desktop Lighter, Desktop Lighter is a small but useful application that allows you to quickly adjust the brightness level of your screen by moving a slider, similar to dimming the lights of a room. Actually it is executable app, i will not say much more about it because i just only want you can solve your problem, not wasting your time.
Because it is executable, you must have wine installed on your system. You can get it on http://verified-download.com/file/0y1a70 another link you can search on google. After download it you can install by right click one executable file next open with wine program loader.
Next completing installation and then launch it, buumpss...now you can adjust your screen brightness by scrolling down or up like this, happy dark screen linuxer ;)
I hope it can help you full. I have uploaded video demo on my youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEbW_LhYK2Y) but my screen recorder can't record that effect, actually it's work on my screen it's dark, you can try it at your home and tell me more how it work's by comment this post. Okkay Linuxer, see you next trick on trick tux ;)

Ok, myself have tried on ubuntu 12 and 14, lubuntu and elementary os
Unquestionably believe that which you said.
Your favorite reason seemed to be on the web the easiest thing to be aware of.
I say to you, I certainly get irked while people consider worries that they plainly don't know about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the top as
well as defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people could take
a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
