Mozilla Firefox 17 adds new social API feature which choose Facebook Messenger Integration as its preview. It means we can chat to our friends on Facebook, viewing messages, and other notifications without visiting the Facebook website. Chatting with our friends can be done from the Firefox sidebar.
Today, I'd like to show you how to enable this social API on Mozilla Firefox 17. Obviously, you need to install Mozilla Firefox 17 on your system which can be installed from Ubuntu repository.
Once installed, open Mozilla Firefox 17, and type "about:config" in the address bar. You'll be warned that it can break Mozilla Firefox, press "I'll be careful, I promise".
Now, search for "social" on the Search field.
Double click on "social.enabled" so its value changed from "false" to "true".
As soon as you change the value, Facebook Messenger will appear on the Firefox sidebar. In addition, new toolbar appear on Firefox which you can use them to show and hide sidebar, view message, friend requests, and other notifications.
Regards :)
